In Christ

I found this again this morning. Well, I say I found it, it has been stuck in the front of my Bible for years now, but has been obscured by various other bits of paper floating around there. Anyway I took a proper look at it again this morning, and man it was exciting!

Basically I collated a whole bunch of promises of God that are found with the words ‘in Christ’ in Paul’s epistles, and what you get is an immensely encouraging list!

  • We have redemption (Rom 3:24)
  • Consider yourself dead to sin but alive to God (Rom 6:11)
  • We have the free gift of eternal life (Rom 6:23)
  • There is now no condemnation (Rom 8:1)
  • We have the love of God, from which we cannot be separated (Rom 8:39)
  • We are one body (Rom 12:5)
  • We have been sanctified (1 Cor 1:2)
  • The grace of God is given us (1 Cor 1:4)
  • All will be made alive (1 Cor 15:22)
  • God always leads us in triumph (2 Cor 2:14)
  • The veil is removed (2 Cor 3:14)
  • We are a new creation (2 Cor 5:17)
  • We have liberty (Gal 2:4)
  • We are justified by faith (Gal 2:16)
  • The blessing of Abraham comes to the Gentiles (Gal 3:14)
  • We are all sons of God through faith (Gal 3:26)
  • We are all one (Gal 3:28)
  • Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything, but faith working through love (Gal 5:6)
  • The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places (Eph 1:3)
  • We are raised up with Christ and seated with Him in the heavenly places (Eph 2:6)
  • He wants to show us the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us (Eph 2:7)
  • We were created for good works, which God prepared beforehand so we could walk in them (Eph 2:10)
  • We who were far off have been brought near (Eph 2:13)
  • The Gentiles are fellow heirs, fellow members and fellow partakers of the promise (Eph 3:6)
  • We have boldness and confident access through faith in Him (Eph 3:11)
  • God has forgiven us (Eph 4:32)
  • We have righteousness through faith (Phil 3:9)
  • There is the prize of the upward call (Phil 3:14)
  • The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard our hearts and minds (Phil 4:7)
  • Our God will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory (Phil 4:9)
  • The dead in Christ will rise first (1 Thess 4:16)
  • God’s will for us is to rejoice always, pray without ceasing, and give thanks in everything (1 Thess 5:16-18)
  • Faith, love and super-abundant grace are found (1 Tim 1:14)
  • There is the promise of life (2 Tim 1:1)
  • He granted us His purpose and grace from all eternity (2 Tim 1:9)
  • There is salvation and eternal glory (2 Tim 2:10)
  • We will be persecuted if we desire to live godly! (2 Tim 3:12)

Wow! What an encouragement! Yes, including that last one! Now I’m speaking to myself as much as anyone here: you don’t have an excuse for a bad day, with a list of promises like that! If you need a bit of that encouragement in your life right now, take time to focus on Him and position yourself in a place of knowing Him first and foremost in your life, over all your circumstances and situations. Remind yourself that you’re seated with Him in the heavenly places and that from that place you can take authority over those situations, armed with these ‘precious and magnificent promises’ which not only equip you to deal with it all, but come with the ultimate aim of making you into a partaker in the divine nature! (2 Peter 1:3-4)

Be blessed!
